Mortgage lenders in Puerto Rico: OCIF-licensed mortgage companies
OCIF-licensed mortgage companies: loans to buy, refinance or renovate a home.
This category lists mortgage companies with an office in San Juan that are licensed in Puerto Rico. If you are buying a home as part of an Act 60 plan or a move to the island, a local lender knows Puerto Rico appraisals, title and closing practice. Banks and cooperativas also make mortgages; you will find them in their own category.
We only list companies we found with an active mortgage institution license in OCIF's search; each listing's verification note gives the license and NMLS numbers. Phone and address come from the company's own website.
Before you apply, compare the Loan Estimate from at least two lenders, ask which programs fit your case (conventional, FHA, VA, USDA Rural) and whether the lender will finance a second home or investment property. Browse every provider in the directory filtered to mortgage lenders, and see the moving checklist for the rest of your move.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check that a mortgage company is licensed in Puerto Rico?
Search its name in OCIF's licensee search (concesionarios.ocif.pr.gov) and choose the license type: mortgage institution, mortgage broker or loan originator. You can also check the company's and the loan officer's NMLS number in NMLS Consumer Access.
What is the difference between a mortgage lender and a mortgage broker?
A lender (in Puerto Rico, a licensed mortgage institution) makes the loan itself. A broker shops your application to other lenders and does not fund the loan. Both need an OCIF license.
Can I get a mortgage in Puerto Rico if I am moving from the mainland?
Puerto Rico uses the same federal programs as the states (conventional, FHA, VA, USDA Rural), so the usual requirements apply: income, credit, assets and the property's appraisal. Each lender sets its own conditions for second homes and investment properties, so ask before applying.
Who else is involved in buying a home in Puerto Rico?
Besides the lender, a purchase usually involves a title company, which searches the Property Registry, and a notary, who must be a Puerto Rico attorney and executes the deed. See our title & closing companies category.
