In Puerto Rico, only an attorney admitted by the Supreme Court may practice law. You can confirm for free whether your attorney is in good standing in the Judicial Branch's Attorney Directory (RUA).

Step by step

  1. Open the Attorney Directory.
  2. Search by full name, or by attorney number (Núm. Tribunal Supremo / RUA).
  3. Review the result: full name, RUA number, category (Abogado(a), Abogado(a) Notario(a)) and status.
  4. If the status reads ACTIVO(A), the license is current. If the attorney does not appear or the status differs, ask for clarification before hiring.
